I taped the plastic sheet that comes with the Real Road kit to my counter-top and placed the paper template on top.

The plastic sheet needs to be tight and smooth.  Place strips of scotch tape every few inches and gently pull them tight to remove any wrinkles.

Using a magic marker, I traced an outline of the paper template onto the plastic sheet.

Here I have finished spreading the Real Road Paste onto the plastic sheet.  The paste covers all areas encompassed by the template outline.
